What a terrifying ordeal for Rose! Missing a child, not knowing why, where, or how. I couldn’t even imagine. I love how invested Zachary becomes with each case…he truly cares. He can’t set it aside even though it wreaks havoc in his personal life. I am glad that Kenzie does understand even though it upsets her. I loved this story!
She Was Out Of Reach - a review by Rosemary Kenny.
PI Zachary Goldman always has PTSD attacks, (caused by a traumatic childhood) every year at Christmas, so his partner, Assistant Medical Examiner Kenzie Kirsch, is surprised to say the least when he takes on the kidnap case of a young girl that seems to have no leads.
Intervening family issues and Zachary's mental state add more than the usual stresses in the lead-up to the big day and threaten to overwhelm him...will he hold out until Claire is found?
Find out by reading this excellent psychological-thriller from the extraordinary PD Workman, to see if you can work out how She Was Out Of Reach will end, ahead of the reveal to see if everyone gets their HEA - and whodunit!
Zachary Goldman, a private investigator burdened with a cornucopia of personal issues but also blessed with a dogged determination and a real talent for noticing details others miss, is tasked with finding a missing child in this riveting installment of one of P. D. Workman’s most popular series. When a 5-year-old girl is taken from a supposedly secure play area in a local mall, the child’s mother is understandably desperate for answers. She knows in her heart that the police are wasting precious time looking in the wrong direction and she needs help if her daughter is to be rescued and returned to her. Statistics for kidnapping cases are bleak so the decision to hire a private investigator was not a difficult one. I have to express my admiration for the deft handling of such a sensitive topic as kidnapping. I find it remarkable the way this author is able spin a relentlessly captivating tale involving something so horrific while managing to keep the atmosphere of the story from becoming overly graphic or triggering, yet never trivializing the gravity of the situation. As always, there was a bounty of twists and turns that surprised and intrigued me, keeping me glued to the story right through the very last page. I love the characters in this series, warts and all, and am always quickly invested in their current personal struggles as well as the investigation that is the centerpiece of each story. I do not want to give anything away and spoil the story for you so I will only say that this is not one to miss. Grab your favorite fluffy blanket, your favorite beverage, and settle in for another unputdownable page-turner by an author who never disappoints.

P.D. (Pamela) Workman is a USA Today Bestselling author, winner of several awards from Library Services for Youth in Custody and the InD’tale Magazine’s Crowned Heart award, and has published over 100 mystery/suspense/thriller and young adult books.
Workman loves writing about the underdog. She has been praised for her realistic details, deep characterization, and sensitive handling of the serious social issues that appear in her stories, from light cozy mysteries to darker, grittier young adult and mystery/suspense books.
P. D. Workman does not shy from probing the deep psychological scars of childhood trauma, mental illness, and addiction. Also characteristic of this author, these extremely sensitive issues are explored with extensive empathy, described with incredible clarity, and portrayed with profound insight.
