Intriguing Mystery!

I always enjoy it when a new book in this series comes out! I love that each case is different and unique while being relevant to today. I also love that Zachary is part of her investigations sometimes. I love Kenzie’s tenacity when she feels that something is off during her post-mortem exams. This one was throwing red flags up and she did her own investigation to try to figure it out. I also was curious about Dr. Cook’s attitude…he wasn’t very helpful or supportive. Kensie perseverance is one of her strongest qualities. She will make a fantastic Medical Examiner when she gets promoted.

Ethics and expectations...

My favorite assistant medical examiner, Kenzie Kirsch, is given a sad case involving a homeless man who has died, from all appearances, by the devastating consequences of chronic alcoholism. But is that the whole story? Kenzie is set on the trail of a mysterious “Night Doctor” who might be a saint or possibly a serial killer. As always, her partner, the incomparable private investigator Zachary Goldman is always ready to lend his expertise to the investigation. With her usual nimble balancing of suspicion, intrigue, engaging characters, and a number of surprises, P. D. Workman has penned yet another captivating mystery that had me ignoring all else in favor of reading this book to see what was going to happen next. Medical ethics was a central theme in this story and it was well-handled with attention being given to all sides of the various issues represented. Of course, mental health issues were also a predominant topic as would be expected by anyone familiar with this series. I enjoy all medical thrillers as a rule, but I have to say that this series stands out for me because of the compassion and understanding that always shines through in each and every story. This is top shelf entertainment with a heart.
